Vanessa Matibag is a seasoned HR consultant with 20 years of experience guiding nonprofits and mission-driven organizations through periods of growth, change, and transformation. Born and raised in the Philippines, Vanessa brings a human-centered lens to her work—one that is deeply informed by her lived experience and her unwavering commitment to equity, justice, and inclusion.

She has led HR functions across the full employee lifecycle, from talent acquisition and onboarding to learning and development, employee relations, and compliance. Vanessa has a proven track record of building strong HR infrastructure, designing equitable recruitment practices, and developing policies that support a high-performing, values-aligned workforce. Her clients value her thoughtful, people-first approach and her ability to translate complex HR challenges into practical, sustainable solutions.

Vanessa established Outside Lead HR Solutions to meet the needs of organizations that are driven by purpose and ready to invest in their people. Her approach is hands-on, strategic, and always tailored to each client’s stage of growth. Whether it's building an onboarding process from the ground up, developing a promotion policy, or serving as a fractional HR leader, she brings clarity, compassion, and a deep understanding of how people practices shape culture.

Outside of work, Vanessa finds joy on the ballroom floor. What started as a personal challenge nine years ago has grown into a true passion—she now competes in amateur ballroom dancing, embracing every opportunity to keep learning, growing, and stepping out of her comfort zone.
